Wellington Based Artist Cammy Releases Cinematic New Single, 'u Threw Me'

Alternative Wellington pop artist Cammy has today released his groove-filled new single, U Threw Me.

Caked in spacey synths and dreamy guitar licks, the track is an emotively empowering break-up anthem, walking the line between reality and escapism. The multi-instrumentalist Cammy ventures into the dance-pop sphere with a driving four-to-the-floor beat and funky bassline, coupled with pulsing synths and a captivating melody.

“The creative process was an absolute jigsaw puzzle; I almost drove myself insane finishing it,” explains Cammy.

“I was really cut-throat with all of my decisions and driven to make each part as good or better than the last. I’m glad I didn’t settle for less.”

Dreaming of big, cinematic pieces of music, Cammy writes with a vision for each song to be an event; like watching an entire film in just those three or four minutes.

“Ever since I was a little boy looking up at the stars, I have always been fascinated and terrified by space,” Cammy expands. “It will always tie into my music sonically and visually, even subconsciously.”

Based on the coastline of Wellington, Cammy draws inspiration from his surroundings, bringing his alt-pop vision to life at his home studio. Unveiling his debut single New Horizon in late 2019, the 22-year-old is making strong waves performing to a sold-out crowd at the tracks’ release show. His most recent single Okie Dokie is close to 100k Spotify streams, and counting.

Keep an ear out for more music and live shows in the works, from this exciting and bold new Kiwi artist.
