Today, New Zealand born pop-powerhouse BENEE shares a brand new, silky-smooth Amazon Original cover of Gotye’s global hit Somebody That I Used To Know.

The Amazon Original – which is available now to stream and purchase on Amazon Music – lands on the platform as Gotye celebrates the 10th anniversary of the 14x Platinum global hit, which was originally released on July 5, 2011, before going on to dominate charts around the world.

“I resonate so strongly with the lyrics in this song,” says BENEE. “I wish that I had written it and was so excited by the opportunity to record it for Amazon Music.”

New Zealand artist BENEE (aka Stella Rose Bennett) first captured attention with her 2019 EP Fire on Marzz, but it was her follow-up EP Stella & Steve with the lo-fi disco/pop anthem Supalonely that garnered her widespread acclaim. With more than 3 billion streams across all platforms, the song is certified Platinum in eight countries including the United States.
