In September 2006, two young musicians – guitarist Rob and drummer Tom – got together to form a punk band named Whitethorne. They began writing songs, and before long they met a bass player named Ash, who joined the band immediately.
The three of them formed a tight, brotherly bond and developed a hard punk sound. In March 2007, while playing a gig, they met a band called Naked Accomplice, whose bass player Shaun (nicknamed ‘Jesus’ for his appearance) became a close friend. This friendship proved important when Shaun left Naked Accomplice, which had become too poppy for his taste.
By October 2007, Rob, Tom, and Ash were growing bored with the punk style they had been playing. They began exploring a new sound influenced by 70’s classic rock (such as Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin) and 80’s metal (such as Diamond Head and Metallica), with a modern twist. Ash moved to second guitar, leaving the band in need of a bassist – and that’s when Shaun joined as their driving bass player.
Now a thriving four‑piece with dual lead guitars, Acid Rain delivered punk energy while playing an ear‑friendly mix of classic rock and metal with notable blues and Southern influences.
Rob Sadd now performs with Puppeteer.
Acid Rain are:
Robert Sadd (vocals, guitar)
Ash Holloway (vocals, guitar)
Shaun ‘Jesus’ McRoberts (bass, vocals)
Tom Sturgeon (drums)
