Animalhead is a high-impact, genre-blending rock trio from West Auckland, New Zealand, known for their explosive live energy and groove-heavy riff work. Formed in 2014, the band is made up of Dan Rooke (drums/vocals), Josh Obrien (bass), and Campbell Mickell (guitar/vocals) – a tight-knit crew whose chemistry drives their raw, visceral sound.

With influences ranging from punk to blues to funk-metal, Animalhead has earned comparisons to RATM, Royal Blood, and early QOTSA, while carving out a unique identity in the alt-rock landscape.

Their new EP, The Affair, is their most powerful release yet – an emotionally charged collection of tracks that tackle themes of heartbreak, identity, societal tension, and self-destruction. Produced by Zorran Mendonsa (Coridian, City of Souls) and mastered by Primal Mastering, the EP delivers high production value without sacrificing grit or authenticity.
