Katchafire Smoke Past Platinum

Shock Records in conjunction with Mai Music are delighted to confirm Katchafire’s latest album ‘Slow Burning’ has achieved Platinum Sales Status & is the first local artist record to do so for 2005.

‘Slow Burning’ in style but not in sales, the latest album from Katchafire reaches the big milestone of Platinum two months after release. Following on from their double platinum success with debut album ‘Revival’, Katchafire prove sophmore albums need not be “difficult” as fans continue their love affair with the band with album sales and attendance at shows.

Acclaim for the new album ‘Slow Burning’ has been strong as the band’ s music has once again won over hearts and ears of fans and critics alike….

“…as torch-bearers for old-school reggae Katchafire have hoisted that flame higher and brighter.” – Russell Baillie, NZ Herald

“The album is the perfect call-to-loving arms soundtrack for summer.” – John Russell, Herald On Sunday

“…the band really hit roots pay-dirt.” – Rip It Up

Katchafire’s feet remain firmly on the ground though as they keep working very hard touring and playing every weekend to enthusiastic audiences around the country. The eight-piece band has a reputation for gigs that are joyous singalong affairs where everyone is welcomed.

A recent inclusion on their tour diary is the support slot for an upcoming show by Bob Marley’s group – The Wailers. Katchafire started out as a Bob Marley covers band, and have always loved his music. Katchafire view this opportunity as a, “Dream come true to play with the masters of reggae.”
