Christchurch’s Anglebox Releases Debut Single ‘Undies On The Lawn’

Christchurch-based band Anglebox are excited to announce the release of their eagerly anticipated debut single, Undies on the Lawn. Marking the beginning of an exciting musical journey for the band, Undies on the Lawn is the precursor to their upcoming EP Dark Days in the Sun.
Undies on the Lawn was inspired by a chance encounter with a discarded pair of undies on a frosty Twizel morning walk. This quirky and relatable experience has been transformed into a catchy and popular song that resonates with listeners. The single captures the essence of Anglebox’s music — energetic, garage 80’s vibes influenced by the likes of The Mutton Birds, The Exponents, and The Clash.
Anglebox was formed in early 2023 when rhythm guitarist Ian Cartwright and lead guitarist Richard Grist decided to collaborate on an originals project. Joined by David ‘Stacky’ Stack on vocals, they completed the lineup with Greg Mannering on bass and Dave Deakins on drums. The band started creating and performing music in early 2024, with initial arrangements and demos quickly evolving into full-fledged songs.
Recording took place at audio-Centric Studios in Christchurch, where the band captured the raw energy of their live performances. Undies on the Lawn was produced, mixed, and mastered by Ian McAllister, whose meticulous and passionate approach helped to bring the song to life.
Anglebox is set to release their debut EP, Dark Days in the Sun later in 2025. The EP will feature tracks like Who Are We Really, Teenage Dream, and Want My Lover, each showcasing the band’s diverse influences and creative prowess.
Anglebox is excited to share their music with the world and they are looking forward to connecting with fans through their energetic and heartfelt performances.
Undies on the Lawn is available today, 26 February, on all major streaming platforms.
