Jackaltheblackal Releases New Album ‘Guns Akimbo (0-VII)
Jack Lai has been releasing various projects since his debut afrofredofrog in 2019 at age 16. His following 2019 releases drew attention from various Student Radio Stations. LegsForSprite (#6 Radio Control), Wrapper (#9 BFM), StillStarvingMFer (#3 Radio Control). Along with being Radio Control’s Artist of the Week in November and later landing a #1 spot on Radio Control’s Top Ten for his track, two hand in 2021.
Recently, Jack has been working in the background since his 2023 instrumental album release blackal instrumentals iii His upcoming Guns Akimbo (0-VII), is releasing today, August 1 – ‘It’s definitely my most sophisticated album to date… the songs I’ve written come from a place of exerted stress built up within these past couple years, but they all feel very much personal to me.’
The album and single release are the first of many big things coming from jackaltheblackal. Recently having his live debut as an opener for NOA Record’s Karangahape Matariki II gig, followed by a sold out show opening for Baby Zionov. His eyes continue on the stage, joined for the first time with a full band for his show on the 9th of August.
