Inspired by the likes of Fiona Apple, No Doubt, and Tegan and Sara, as well as Aotearoa’s own singer-songwriters Bic Runga and Anika Moa, arielwose draws from the iconic 2000’s female singer-songwriter era while blending in her own modern take.
Ariel (arielwose) writes from personal experience. Her songs often take a deeply honest, real and emotional approach, tugging at the heartstrings. Her song 7 Day Clinic speaks openly about her relationship with anxiety – a reminder that everyone feels it, and it’s okay to talk about it.
Now, with her upcoming single “child” arielwose takes a sharp 180 – stepping away from the softer, lighter sound of her earlier work and diving into a louder and more direct tone. It’s a song fuelled and inspired by unfiltered female rage, emotional honesty, and the kind of clarity that comes after bottling things up for too long. This track marks the beginning of her grittier, more rock-driven era. One of arielwose’s first gigs was on the Auckland Pride main stage at Pride in the Square 2023, which drew around 2,000 people. Since then, she’s played across venues on Karangahape Road, opened for Park Rd in Ohakune, opened for Macey, and Isla Noon.
