Coppelia are a fresh NZ Grown reggae-rock band delivering big sounds and an action-packed live set, complete with wailing sax and plenty of excitement. The band have immersed themselves in Aotearoa’s music scene – setting up shop in the epicentre of arts and culture – Karangahape Rd in Tāmaki Makaurau. Consequently, they continue to hone their craft and develop their unique sound among the scene which has produced many of NZ’s greatest artists.
The members all hail from the north island of Aotearoa and met during University, beginning with acoustic jam sessions. Soon enough, what started as jam sessions evolved into performing at house parties and suddenly grew to gigging at one of NZ’s most iconic venues, Double Whammy.
Their commitment to the music is matched only by their thirst to get out on stage and delivery a high quality performance. With influences ranging from indie rock to afro beats and jazz, one can expect heavy hooks, smooth rhythms and a deep, driving bassline from the 5-piece collective.
