Say Or Do put their spin on The Police classic ‘Message In A Bottle’
Hawke’s Bay alt-rockers Say Or Do are back with a fresh release – a turbo-charged version of Message In A Bottle by The Police.
The band has taken the iconic track, already a staple of their live set, and pushed it through their own filter – heavier guitars, driving energy, and melodic vocals with a touch of grit. The result is a version that stays true to the heart of the original while carrying the unmistakable edge of Say Or Do.
“Message In A Bottle is a tune all the members of Say Or Do have connected with on some level. It’s such a fun song, and re-imagining it in our style felt natural – it’s become a real highlight of our shows,” says frontman Sam French.
The track follows the momentum of their debut EP Shifting Paradigms (May 2025), which has surpassed 85,000 Spotify streams, landed airplay on Radio Hauraki with Neon Lights, and been backed by a North Island tour.
A week later, on 29 October, Say Or Do will release their first official music video. The video is a high-energy live performance filmed inside a private retro bar space in Ahuriri, Napier. Filmed by local hip-hop artist TintdOfficial, the clip channels raw energy, fun vibes, and hints at the direction of future releases.
