Nel Releases Summer-Ready Single ‘No Contact’

Kiwi singer-songwriter Nel returns with No Contact, officially released on November 21, 2025. This feel-good track blends pop sensibilities with folk/indie grooves to create the perfect soundtrack for the approaching summer.
No Contact explores the magnetic pull of connection – the kind that defies logic and explanation. The song delves into the complexity of feelings that exist in the space between presence and absence, where communication and physical distance create their own unique tension. With lyrics open to interpretation, Nel invites listeners to find their own meaning in the push and pull of automatic attraction.
“This song is about that unexplainable connection you have with someone,” Nel shares. “There’s this automatic thing that happens, but there’s also distance – whether that’s literal no contact or just the space between you. I wanted to leave it open for people to interpret in their own way.”
For the first time in her career, Nel worked with a full band in the studio. Collaborating once again with producer Aaron Clarke (Mountain Boy), she brought together Angus Grainger on drums, Joash Varghese on bass, Isaac Aish on keys, Jonathan Ashfield on guitar, and James Fistonich on electric guitar.
The writing process was refreshingly spontaneous – Nel penned the track in just 20 minutes. “It’s one of my favourite songs to date,” she says. “It’s very much a song you want to listen to coming into summer.”
No Contact serves as the final single release before Nel drops her highly anticipated 5-track debut EP, coming very soon. The EP will feature previously released singles What WAS. and Is This Real?, alongside new material that showcases the depth and range of Nel’s artistry.
No Contact is available now on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
