MissCrystalStarr Unveils New Single ‘Far Below’

New Zealand singer-songwriter MissCrystalStarr releases her new single Far Below today, 20 February 2026, a reflective and emotionally grounded track originally written in circa 2002 and performed during her early live shows at the Indigo Acoustic Lounge at San Francisco Bathhouse in Wellington.
Far Below explores the cyclical nature of emotional highs and lows. While listeners are encouraged to interpret the song in their own way, Starr describes it as a reflection on depression and recovery – the sense of climbing back to stability while knowing that darkness can return. It is introspective without being prescriptive, allowing space for personal meaning.
“It’s about feeling low, coming back from it, and understanding that those feelings may always exist somewhere beneath the surface. I really want listeners to find their own meaning in it.”
The single was recorded at Swamp Shack Studios in New Plymouth and engineered by Chris Foreman, with contributions from respected local musicians Liana Hart (backing vocals), Jack Moser (piano), and Richard Grant (bass). Together, they bring warmth, restraint, and depth to a song that has lived with Starr for over two decades.
Far Below follows Miss Crystal Starr’s continued rise as an independent artist, reconnecting past work with a contemporary recording that reflects both experience and growth.
