Born in Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand, Jaguar is a recording artist, DJ, and music producer whose sound is shaped by a unique blend of Māori (Ngāti Porou), European, and Chinese heritage. Drawing inspiration from a diverse cultural background and a lifelong connection to music, Jaguar creates original songs that combine the nostalgic influences of the 1990’s and early 2000’s with contemporary electronic production, R&B, hip-hop, rap, and the laid-back spirit of New Zealand reggae.
As both an artist and DJ, Jaguar believes every song should have its own identity, emotion, and story. Rather than following one musical formula, Jaguar embraces creativity and genre-blending to create music that reflects different moments, experiences, and perspectives. This approach is captured throughout the debut EP, Inside Jaguar Mind – a collection of original songs that explores personal stories, relationships, culture, and self-expression.
The EP opens a window into Jaguar’s world, showcasing a range of moods from smooth and atmospheric R&B influences to energetic hip-hop-inspired tracks. Each song represents a different chapter, combining honest songwriting with modern production and the sounds that have influenced Jaguar’s journey as an artist.
The heartfelt track 4 My Brother is a tribute to Jaguar’s oldest brother, a New Zealand Latin American and Ballroom Dance Champion. The song celebrates his dedication, strength, and the inspiration he has provided throughout Jaguar’s life.
Top Lady was written for Jaguar’s best friend, Jade Maraki, inspired by her signature phrase and created as an anthem of confidence, self-worth, and empowerment – encouraging women to embrace their inner queen.
Bringing a different energy to the EP, I’m Good Witchu is a fun, upbeat track inspired by the rhythm, focus, and intensity of boxing, while songs such as Silk, Stay Right Here, and Switch Love explore different sides of love, connection, and human emotion.
Released on February 25, 2026, Inside Jaguar Mind is a seven-track EP running approximately 23 minutes. The project blends smooth melodies, hip-hop rhythms, R&B influences, and electronic textures to create an atmospheric journey through confidence, intimacy, reflection, and personal expression.
