Jeff Murphy, originally from Wales, took up residence in Tauranga, NZ to pursue his musical and screen writing interests. In 2022 he released the solo album Drive Away, Unfortunately, that year also saw his untimely death after a protracted battle with cancer.
The sessions for Drive Away had a large number of songs put down in various levels of completion, however, only 15 were selected for that release. Producer Tim Julian, who worked with Jeff on these sessions has finished off the unreleased material and presents them in the form of the Everything Is Alright album.
Jeff’s legacy of helping people, having a sunny disposition and prolific work ethic shows in the breadth of his musical tastes. His screen writing saw him win a BAFTA Award for his work on the Hinterland series, plus he had a number of independent feature films brought successfully to fruition. His dream was to have his songs worked into the scripts he wrote, so many of his tracks were accompanied by his visual concepts for integration into films.
