Zentarge Releases ‘Tall Poppy’
Kirikiriroa’s brotherly duo Zentarge are coming at you this week with their latest track, Tall Poppy. A reggae heart meets bossa-nova rhythms on the verses, while conversational lyricism addresses “Mrs Tall Poppy” and “Mr Tall Poppy” directly, standing firm and true in their artistic calling. Their first release of 2026, it’s a track they refer to as their ‘mission statement’ to guide all facets of their reggae-inspired, genre-fusing sound.
On Tall Poppy, the duo weigh in on the conversation of culture from their own observations and experiences in Aotearoa’s creative scene. The journey from growing up busking on their local streets, to being in the thick of an online explosion of artistry, can be heard right through neo-soul elements of the track. Sonically, they course the whole garden in exploring how the mechanisms that are used to bring others down can be used to foster growth twice as high.
