Sofar Sounds Returns to Auckland With a Dry Show

As audiences seek more meaningful, in-the-moment experiences, Sofar Sounds is returning to Auckland with a fresh take on live music kicking off its relaunch with a dry, intimate show.
After a hiatus, the global live music community known for transforming unique spaces into stripped-back stages is bringing its signature format back to the city, starting Thursday 16 April.
The launch event will feature three artists performing stripped back sets in a secret central Auckland location, designed for connection, discovery, and truly listening. In partnership with non-alcoholic drinks brand Terps & Co, the night will off er a curated, alcohol-free experience refl ecting a growing shift toward more conscious, experience-led nightlife.
Starting with a dry show allows Sofar to reintroduce the experience in its purest form – centred on music, connection, and presence. As the Auckland series evolves, formats will vary, with future events including a mix of alcohol-free, BYO, and licensed experiences depending on the venue and context.

Auckland joins over 250 cities worldwide embracing Sofar’s unique approach to live music, spotlighting emerging talent and creating meaningful cultural moments.
The Auckland series will be curated by Jessica Willis, working closely with local artists, venues, and creative communities.
“Bringing Sofar back to Auckland feels incredibly timely, there’s a real appetite for more intentional, intimate experiences. This is about rediscovering live music in its purest form, and creating spaces where people can genuinely connect.”
