Tyrun is a Niuean/Samoan independent pop and R&B artist born and raised in Aotearoa, creating music that places Niuean and queer identities firmly in the spotlight.
Raised at the intersection of Pacific roots, Wellington creativity, and the buzz of Auckland, Tyrun creates from the diaspora. Proudly Tagata Niue, his music reflects this layered upbringing fusing bright energy and emotional depth with a sense of belonging. Blending modern pop and R&B with Vagahau Niue (the Niuean language), Tyrun’s sound brings a contemporary groove grounded in culture and identity.
Music is deeply interwoven with Tyrun’s language journey. By placing Vagahau Niue in the here and now, his songwriting creates space for other Tagata Niue, especially queer Niuean audiences, to see themselves back inside their language and culture.
Tyrun’s debut EP, Fall In Love Again, has been proudly supported by Pacific Media Network for its role in revitalising Vagahau Niue through contemporary music. In 2026, Tyrun has showcased his music on the stages of the cities that raised him, with performances at Auckland Pride and CubaDupa in Wellington.
Singing has always been part of Tyrun’s life. Growing up surrounded by soul, R&B, reggae, and pop, music is where he feels most at home. Drawn to strong hooks and songs that sparkle with expression, Tyrun’s music is a reflection of this upbringing.
This year, Tyrun is committed to showcasing the beauty of Vagahau Niue, and the language journey that many are on, particularly for queer Niuean people navigating their own paths of reconnection.
