Auckland alt/indie rock outfit Capricore are set to hit the road this April and May in celebration of their upcoming single Yeah Nah Yeah, bringing their distinctly offbeat energy to stages across the North Island.

The tour kicks off in Tāmaki Makaurau with a special release show at Nice Goblins HQ on April 24, marking the official launch of their single Yeah Nah Yeah. Joined by Slow Rage and Grapehouse, the night doubles as a koha-entry fundraiser in support of Youthline NZ; a fitting partnership for a track that balances playfulness with heavier subject matter beneath the surface.

Yeah Nah Yeah sees Capricore flipping classic Kiwiana pub-rock on its head, pairing a catchy, looping guitar riff with piano-led melancholy. While the song plays with familiar tropes and tongue-in-cheek lyricism, it also carries a wave of introspection, exploring New Zealand’s complicated culture and its relationship to Kiwi’s mental health struggles. This balance of humour and sincerity is set to define the tone of the release show, equal parts chaotic, self-aware, and heartfelt.

From there, the band will take their “Capri-tour” on the road, bringing their theatrical live presence to Ngāmotu, Pōneke, and Tauranga. Each stop features a curated lineup of local talent, reinforcing the community-driven energy that is central to Capricore’s music.

The New Plymouth show at Asgard on May 1 features support from The Mara, Th. Scrts, and Grave Doll, followed by an early evening Wellington performance at Moon on May 3 alongside Dave and the Dirty Humans and Electric Tapestry. The tour wraps in Tauranga on May 9 with an all-ages, koha entry show featuring Velouria and Edie & The Dreamers.

Known for blending absurdist humour with indie introspection, Capricore’s live shows often blur the line between performance and commentary, embracing unpredictability and theatrical flair. This upcoming run continues that trajectory, positioning the band as one of the more distinctive emerging voices within Aotearoa’s alternative scene.

Following a string of recent releases – including Aotearoa Top Hit charting tracks Don’t Shank Me and Smile, the band are now working towards their debut album, which will also feature many of the tracks played on this debut tour.
