Katelyn is hitting the ground running in 2026, releasing the first single from her upcoming highly anticipated debut EP.

Take Me Away is a cruisy, radio-friendly soundtrack to your weekend road trip. This time with a band, Katelyn is excited to showcase a stark departure from the sound of her previous singles You’d Be The One (Now I Know It Too) and Incandescent, to create something that is uniquely her own.

The single paints a longing for an escape, a weekend getaway of sorts, whilst reflecting on life as a whole and the desire to hold little regret. The repetition of the words Take Me Away at the end of the song act as a call back to these quiet moments of being a passenger princess on the way to a scenic destination. Growing up in New Zealand Katelyn has always been fond of exploring her backyard and discovering nature’s hidden gems in which she feels the most centred.

It was recorded in Wellington by Peter Jamieson and produced by Angus Webb. Katelyn and her band have transcended the tune beyond its acoustic roots with a clean, laid-back guitar riff backed by a mellow rhythm section of bass and drums to complete this tranquil, yet energetic slow jam. These elements take the listener on a journey and leave room for a ripper of a guitar solo towards the end of the track, where Katelyn’s familiar raw vocals conclude the song.

Katelyn and her bandmates, Dónal, Tane, and Oliver will be performing at Vogelmorn Upstairs for their EP release show on the 4th of September, supported by Ari Leason and Jeline. Described as “well suited for a whiskey lounge”, branding and promotional material for A Lil Somethin’ Somethin’ draws inspiration from and was shot in a whiskey lounge.
