Equilibrium are a rising four-piece band based in Ōtautahi Christchurch who are known for their modern and dynamic blend of genres. Weaving jazz harmony and improvisation techniques with progressive metal and pop-rock inspired melodies, Equilibrium are always ready to push stylistic boundaries. Through engaging and high-impact live performances, the band has built a reputation for tight, immersive compositions paired with outstanding levels of musicianship.
In 2025, Equilibrium took out first place in the national final of Smokefree Rockquest, Aotearoa’s largest live original music platform for rangatahi. Consisting of Corban Blackwell (guitar), Alex Gibson (keyboard & saxophone), Wonie Park (bass) and Finley Tressler (drums), Equilibrium are the first instrumental band to win the national title in the 38-year history of the competition.
Ahead of the release of their debut single, Rumination, Equilibrium have already gained over 19K followers and more than 5 million views on social media.
