Rebecca Robin is a Christchurch-based Māori artist, songwriter, and creative practitioner whose work blends contemporary pop, R&B, rap, and Te Ao Māori storytelling into music that is both deeply personal and socially meaningful.
Previously releasing and performing through her project Ruby Kush Music, Rebecca has spent more than 11 years building an established creative practice spanning music, performance, community engagement, and advocacy. Her earlier work under Ruby Kush Music helped shape the foundation of the artist she is today, including the release of her debut EP, Stardust.
Now releasing music under her own name, Rebecca Robin, she is entering a new chapter in her creative career. A resident artist with Toi Ōtautahi, Rebecca is preparing to release new music created with internationally renowned producer Greg Haver and acclaimed Māori artist and mentor Henare Kaa, continuing to expand her artistic vision through collaborations that bridge contemporary music and cultural storytelling.
As a wāhine Māori, Rebecca’s work is increasingly grounded in identity, whakapapa, Te Ao Māori, and the stories and landscapes of Aotearoa, while retaining the contemporary pop and R&B sound that sits at the heart of her music.
Alongside her recording career, she is dedicated to empowering other independent artists by sharing practical industry knowledge through music education and release strategy workshops.
Through her work as Rebecca Robin, she creates music that is authentic, evocative, and grounded in connection – drawing inspiration from identity, resilience, community, and cultural storytelling. With each new release, she continues to establish herself as a distinctive and compelling voice in New Zealand’s independent music scene.
