On The Great Kerfuffle album, Tim Mahon had a top-notch team around him, including Teina Benioni (Bamboo/Ardijah), Sina Saipaia (O.M.C)., Brent ‘Syd’ Pasley (Newmatics) and Mark Bell (Blam Blam Blam).

The Kerfuffle live band is a four-piece combining Tim Mahon (bass, guitar, vocals) and Teina Benioni (guitar) from the album recording, plus additional talent Roger Stanners (guitar) and Alastair Mace (drums).

Mahon and Kerfuffle are packing the tour van and hitting the road in October, with their first show at Kings in Ohakune on Thursday 15th. From there, they head to (in date order) Wellington, Nelson, Takaka, Greymouth, Dunedin, Invercargill, Rakiura Stewart Island, Oamaru, finishing in Lyttelton on Sunday October 25th.

From plucking the bass harmonics on the seminal Blam Blam Blam track There is No Depression in New Zealand, Mahon’s new songs are in keeping with the anarchistic revolutionary themes he has long espoused. Subject matter on the 10-track Great Kerfuffle album ranges far and wide. The Ballad of William is an ode to one of the original Radio Hauraki pirates; Happy Go Lucky is a lament for our current times; Fresh Northerly is a climate anthem.

Mahon was also in Richard von Sturmer’s legendary pre-Blam Blam Blam band The PlagueQuite Nice came from a Plague rehearsal for the 2021 Punk It Up festival, and features John Murray on drums, Mark Bell on guitar, with Syd Pasley (Newmatics) later adding harmony guitar.
