Niccolo Piccolo (Ngāti Maniapoto) makes joyful, playful music for busy little minds. With waiata written to help tamariki learn te reo Māori through folk/country, storytelling and plenty of sing-along moments, Niccolo Piccolo invites tamariki and whānau to hop on the waka of te reo Māori and explore the world around them.

Her debut album Te Ngahere is a musical adventure through te taiao (the natural world) from waka and manu to the ngahere itself. With waiata designed to spark curiosity, encourage participation and make learning reo feel fun, welcoming and exciting.

As a reo learner herself, Niccolo Piccolo was created from a desire to make te reo Māori feel accessible and exciting for tamariki, wherever they are on their own reo haerenga. The music draws on country-folk roots, a love of our native manu and ngahere, and a belief that learning a language best done together.

Te Ngahere was created with the guidance of mātanga reo, musicians and artists including Kommi Tamati-Elliffe, Theia, and was made with support from Te Māngai Pāho, Creative New Zealand and the APRA Aotearoa Mentorship Programme.

Nau mai ki Te Ngahere! Bring your whānau, bring your reo, and get ready to go on an adventure with Niccolo Piccolo.
