Silverhair Releases Debut Single ‘It’s Time’
It’s Time is the debut single from Whakatāne-based singer-songwriter and electronic artist Silverhair.
Blending an atmospheric electronic sound with an intimate vocal, It’s Time sits somewhere in the downtempo/electronica space between the atmospheric worlds of Air, Zero 7 and Bonobo.
Silverhair is the musical project of singer-songwriter Kristy Robinson, an artist whose relationship with music stretches back to childhood. The name Silverhair is a nod to ageing gracefully and to the idea that creativity doesn’t have an expiry date.
Her musical journey has taken her from singing onstage in shows and bands at school, through years of songwriting and live performance, hosting radio shows, and eventually diving deep into electronic music production.
It’s Time was created as a mantra – a reminder to stop putting off the things we spend a lifetime telling ourselves we’ll do “one day”.
“Music has the power to shape our thoughts, and our thoughts can shape the futures we create. It’s Time is my own attempt to begin it now rather than waiting for some future moment when everything is finally ‘right’”.
