Downriver’s Debut Single ‘We All Got Problems’ is a Country-Folk Romp

Recorded live in a dusty garage on Moana Avenue, Downriver’s We All Got Problems is a country-folk romp in the key of universal trouble. Seamlessly blending the traditional sounds of rustic acoustic rock with lyrics of modern resignation, Problems is barn-burning, bird-flipping, Murphy’s Law music.
“I wrote this song over a couple of beers while on Waiheke Island for a wedding. There was a beautiful sunset, but somewhere, someone was in the shit. Unrelated, I was thinking about hardships, gratitude and how can you steal what’s given freely? Well, I guess we all got problems – am I right?” – YLD (Downriver lyricist)
We All Got Problems is the debut single from Downriver’s self-titled debut album, due for release on 10 November 2026.
Downriver are a six-piece folk-rock band from Whakatu, Aotearoa. Their sound veers between the heartfelt homeland balladry of 70’s singer-songwriters and the existential melancholy of the 90’s.
Formed in 2024, Downriver have been steadily building their fanbase through a grassroots approach, performing ramshackle shows throughout the Tasman and Wellington regions.
With their debut album set for release in November, the band are set to embark on a tour of the South Island.
