On 27 November, the Wellington music community will come together at Vogelmorn Upstairs for a night that puts local rock music to work for an important cause.

Featuring Side Eye, Adult Friends, Electric Tapestry and Because Robots, the Homelessness and Crisis Accommodation Charity Event brings together four Wellington acts for an evening of live music, community and fundraising in support of the Wellington City Mission.

For more than 120 years, the Wellington City Mission has provided accommodation, practical assistance and support to people facing difficult circumstances. The organisation continues to work with people across the Wellington region, providing practical help and support for those experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity and crisis.

The need for that support remains significant. As more people find themselves vulnerable to housing instability and difficult life circumstances, community organisations such as the Wellington City Mission play an important role in providing not only immediate assistance, but pathways towards greater stability and dignity.

Music, meanwhile, has always been one of Wellington’s great community connectors.

The four-band bill reflects the diversity and energy of Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s independent rock scene. Side Eye, Adult Friends, Electric Tapestry and Because Robots each bring their own sound and approach to the stage, making the event as much a celebration of Wellington’s music community as it is a fundraiser.

Rather than simply being a night out, the event offers audiences the chance to make their night out count. Every ticket purchased and every donation made will contribute towards the Wellington City Mission’s work supporting people who need assistance.

It is also an opportunity for musicians, audiences and the wider Wellington community to come together around something that extends beyond the stage.

At its heart, the event is built on a straightforward idea: great local music can help create meaningful community support.

For the artists involved, it is a chance to contribute to their city through the thing they do best. For audiences, it is an opportunity to experience four Wellington rock acts in one venue while knowing that their support is helping people facing homelessness, housing insecurity and crisis.

With live music, a strong local line-up and a cause that reaches directly into the Wellington community, the Homelessness and Crisis Accommodation Charity Event promises to be a night where the usual energy of a Wellington gig takes on an added sense of purpose.

Great local music. A great cause. A night for Wellington to come together and support those who need it most.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the Wellington City Mission and its ongoing work supporting vulnerable people throughout the Wellington region.
