Auckland Folk Festival Second Lineup Announcement Lands

The Auckland Folk Festival lineup keeps growing, with a fresh flock of artists joining the 2027 programme. Early bird tickets are flying out the door and close on 31 December, so now’s the time to lock in your summer festival.
Held at the Kumeu Showgrounds from Friday 29 January to Monday 1 February 2027 (Auckland Anniversary Weekend), New Zealand’s largest folk festival brings together the very best of traditional and contemporary folk music and dance from Aotearoa and around the world.
Festival Programme & Artist Coordinator, Emily Roughton, says, “We’re so proud of the festival we’ve built for 2027 and it’s so exciting to see people responding to our lineup. I can’t wait to watch it all unfold in Kumeu this January!”
Along with sounds from all over the globe, the local list grows with the addition of Evie Bamford, whose richly layered indie-rock blends folk-inspired songwriting with the colourful textures of her jazz and classical background. 2026 has been a breakout year for Evie. Her single Through the Day hit #1 on the 95bFM Top Ten and reached the Official Aotearoa Music Charts Hot 20 Singles and her debut EP Now Rising, Now Falling arrived in September. Hailed by Roots as “one of Tāmaki Makaurau’s most promising indie voices,” Evie is one to catch before everyone else does.
Just Janie is an emerging new voice in NZ indie-folk. Born and raised in Central Otago, Janie was raised to love the blissful sounds of the 60’s and 70’s. Influenced by icons of her favourite musical decades, Janie gained global traction traction with her EP Muse and Musician, surpassing one million streams and was selected as part of Ōtautahi’s 2024 OMAP programme facilitated by Saltbox Studios alongside RDU 98.5FM for her single Musings in the Breakfast Aisle. Her latest album Mythology of the Girls has been nominated as a finalist in the ANZFA Folk Music Awards.
Also joining the lineup are award-winning duo Robert Zielinski & Manuela Centanni (AUS/IT) – offering a musical journey from the west coast of Ireland to the South West of Western Australia. On fiddle and wooden flute, they play traditional Irish music alongside Robert’s original compositions, known for their tone, unison playing and harmonies. In 2025 he was named Instrumentalist of the Year at the Australian Folk Music Awards, and he also won a West Australian Music Award for String Player of the Year for his album Kiangardarup.
The new additions above, plus the other incredible acts now added to the full Line-up below, join an already announced stellar lineup for the 2027 iteration. The 2027 Auckland Folk Festival is headlined by Ny Oh, fresh from touring with Harry Styles and winning Best Folk Album at the 2026 Aotearoa Music Awards, alongside Christchurch street party band Yurt Party. International guests include Irish four-piece Tulua, Australian award-winners Apolline, Melbourne trio The Inadequates and bluegrass outfit The Borough. Cy Winstanley returns from Nashville, and Ghanaian-born, Aotearoa-based Yaw Asumadu brings his WOMAD-honed sound.
With five stages, including a dedicated kids’ stage, plus covered marquees, onsite camping, food trucks for every diet and workshops in music, dance, flax weaving and pottery, there’s something for every age and stage. Day passes and full weekend passes are available, early bird pricing ends 31 December 2026.
