Haiku Redo Releases New Single and Video – ‘My Sister’s Name’
Available now on all platforms, My Sister’s Name is the fourth single from the forthcoming Haiku Redo album Disco Summer. Haiku Redo have been going from strength to strength on the road to their debut album, set to drop in February 2025.
Their new single takes it up another notch as singer songwriter Craig Horne lays out the complex issues in the latest of his relationship problems. His new girlfriend has the same name as his sister which cause all sorts of problems for him. He’s desperate for a solution and the best idea he’s come up with so far is to ask his girlfriend to change her name. Will she go along with it? Will it help, and where is our protagonist coming from to get here? It’s all covered in the wonderful lyrics to this charming song. But what is his sister’s name? Listen to the song to find out. Haiku Redo are a New Zealand based indie rock band with a strong pedigree in Alternative Pop. Centred around the songwriting of NZer Craig Horne who drummed and sang with the UK based Lig (Lig itself was the alt rock vehicle for NZ’s own king of pop Andrew Fagan). He also had a sideline in home recordings with his partner, Bassist Barbara Morgan (Lig, Fatal Jelly Space) which ended up on the stereo of Failsafe Records. Craig has a knack for an understated self-depreciating witty lyric and power-pop melodies and hooks, so you hum the tunes and listen for the next line. Fast-forward 20 years and Failsafe finally persuades Craig to look towards releasing some of those songs, instead he recorded a whole new album (out June 7th 2024). This is the promo for the second single from that collection of songs. Joined by fellow Ex Lig guitarist Kevin Moody & Bassist Barbara Morgan, and rock royalty Dianne Swann (The Bads, Julie Dolphin) also on guitar, Haiku Redo’s debut album Disco Summer is due in February 2025.
