TeamSquad is a Whaingaroa/Raglan powerhouse (no pun intended) duo Ruth and Kane Power who have a unique synth rock blend, marching to the beat of their own drum.
All Dream is their second EP compromising of four stunning tracks that are truly their own.
Being unfamiliar with their sound, my first impressions is there is a lot of beautiful melodies and rhythm that give Teamsquad their unique flavour. During opening track, Sideways and secondary track, Succour, I did feel there were parts that felt a little too slow, not vocally but rhythmically, however it was soon apparent I was just impatient because with tracks, Guardian and Aelians, things really start to open up.
What TeamSquad have captured is something you have to really listen and take in, letting it create the journey for you as it ebbs and flows. I found it was something I really enjoyed, especially with those latter tracks. Aelians was definitely my favourite. It truly captures something otherworldly and that intro and rhythm is really mesmerizing.
Being able to create something that needs a few listens is always a good thing because it gets the listener thinking rather than taking something at sound value.
