“Heralded as the new ‘jazz wizard’ by the Sunday Telegraph, Aronas is award-winning musician Aron Ottignon’s newest project. Having recorded with his own jazz trio by the age of fourteen and already been awarded the 2003 Bells Award Best Young Jazz Musician of the Year there’s no doubt Aron is Australia’s very own jazz prodigal son. With an explosive combination of live dance, jazz and South Pacific-influenced grooves, Aronas is dubbed as punk jazz and rightfully so.

This musical experiment has all the energy and enthusiasm of a punk/rock outfit with driving rhythms and grooves however their sound is cultured and rife with emotion and expression. The dull thud of the drum-kick combined with fantastic finger-work on the grand piano makes it easy to imagine coattails flying.

This is Aron’s first recording and the band is already booked for a string of dates around Australia. Featuring Aron Ottignon on keys, Dave Symes on bass, Evan Mannell on drums and Josh Green on percussion, the band draw on varied and strong influences from rock, soul, electronica and funk. Experimental tracks like ‘You Little Beauty’ and ‘Happy Song’, at once obscure and kinky, took me to a happy place… Let the whole album do the same for you.”
