Boyband is Millie Aislabie, Evie White, Siena McKenzie-Smith, Grace Gillanders and Ellen Lucas, a femme-led, all-girl band. They sit in a space between indie-pop, alternative, funk, and mid-century soul/R&B. The group’s closeness and real-life (NOT FAKE) friendship translate into a seriously approachable groove.
Fresh off of the stage of The Night Before Great Sounds Great, Boyband is keeping the energy going. The band aims to hit you where it hurts, soothe you where it matters most and get the people moving with an emphasis on lyrics, melody and texture. They wear their ‘all girl group’ label with the utmost pride, and hope to be an inspiration to other wāhine coming up in Aotearoa’s music scene.
After a year of forming, gigging and putting in the hard mahi, Boyband is so stoked to announce their debut singles, out November 6th! Money and How Could You Move On have quick become crowd favourites, and can finally be streamed on all platforms.
