Diefenbacker is the product of a studio-based project Jooles was working on and the insistence of other people to play live. In collaboration with various artists, Diefenbacker was formed in 2005, playing a cultured mix of deep beats and heavy alternative rock.

Coupled with Jooles’ vocal style, which has often been likened to Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, it makes for some menacing live performances, with big beat electronica vying for ascendancy over crunching power chords and solid bass work.
