Formerly known as the Tokyo Plumbers, Kolektiv was formed when former Orewa College students Jack, Diane and Brad started jamming together at the end of 2004 for a locksmith company’s Christmas function.

Liking what they heard, they began practicing regularly and slowly their style evolved from jazz standards to a more funky reggae/dub style.

There was only so much the band could do without a bassist, so they enlisted the help of uni mate Julian and Kolektiv was born. After a time, guitarist Gene joined the line-up making it what it is today.

After a few successful gigs, there were some line-up changes at the end of 2005, with Joel (guitar) and Drew (bass).

Since then, the band has gone from strength to strength performing more gigs at the Masonic Tavern and more recently at the King’s Arms. We are looking to record at the end of March 2006.

Kolektiv are:

Diane Webster (tenor saxophone)
Jack Chapman (keyboard)
Brad Donovan (drums)
Drew Hilton (bass)
Joel Vinsen (guitar)
