Lucy Summerfield is a songwriter, producer, and composer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington. Hailing from the small town of Motueka in the Top of the South Island, her music aims to change the way people look at the world. Since her debut single Hurihia in 2022, featured on Te Ao Māori news, she has been quietly building a devoted following.

Her poetic and honest lyrics alongside her natural performance style have seen her playing stages at CubaDupa, Gardens Magic, St James Theatre and The Nelson Centre of Musical Arts. She released Fruit Tea in 2023 which gained radio play on RNZ. In 2024 she played over 20 shows across Aotearoa. She also received the Joan Prior Award for folk music, performing a solo set at Welly Folk Fest and joining Nicola Mitchell on stage as a guest vocalist.

Drawing from artists such as Bic Runga, Joni Mitchell and Lizzy McAlpine, Lucy is back with brand new music. Her artistic voice has continued to develop as she brings in a full band and string quartet arrangements into her sound. Soaring string lines, delicate guitar textures and Lucy’s distinctive vocals create whole worlds for listeners. The poignant way she reflects on universal human experiences in her music has also seen her recognised nationally for her music in both te reo Māori and English. Whether it’s friendship, missing home, or deep anger that drives you forward; Lucy has a song that will feel like it was written just for you.
