Not Exact is a heavy pop punk band from Waihi Beach, New Zealand, delivering emotionally charged lyrics, punchy riffs and an unfiltered sound. Formed in 2024, the project grew naturally from years of writing, experimenting and playing live shows.

Influenced by bands like Blink182 and Title Fight, Not Exact blends grit, melody and urgency. Their debut EP Demo (August 2024) was the first time vocalist and bassist Keelan Simpson had ever sung at all, with the track 9 months gaining attention through a DIY music video and local playlist support. The lineup includes guitarist and vocalist Jack Carpenter and drummer William Carpenter.

The band produces everything themselves, from recording, mixing and mastering to designing and making their own merch including shirts, CDs and tapes.

In 2025 they released the On A Roll EP, featuring the title track and new songs such as You Can’t Drive a Prius Without Wheels and Say What You Will.

Not Exact continues to play shows across New Zealand while building a growing underground following.
