If Superglacier’s name evokes majesty, scope, and a slight sense of impending danger, their debut EP, Pantomime, due mid-2025, lives up to the grand billing. Across five songs, the band cut a path through alternately aggressive and beautiful post-punk, with lyrics that ask what it means to try to be yourself, and the various masks we wear in order to escape doing just that.
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Superglacier has been quietly working on this debut since early 2022. They draw influence from across the musical world to create colourful, explosive, often emotional rock music, driven by an intense dynamism. They are Michael Garmonsway (lead vocals/guitar), Jonathan Vanderhoorn (keyboard, vocals), Matt Parkinson (lead guitar), Andrew Furness (drums), and Robin Baek (bass).
