Maggie Cocco @ Quarry Gardens, Whangārei – 7/03/2026

Maggie Cocco performed in this unique setting in Whangārei on Saturday, where the ruins of a shallow tunnel in an old quarry created an amazing, amplified sound. Catching the last rays of summer sun and hearing the sound come out of the vents on the lawns or seeing her perform underground was a treat. Joining in with a few different flutes was Micky Nogher, as Maggie performed a range of her songs.

The gardens hosted a whole series of gigs throughout summer, where Maggie was part of the organising team and the last performer of the series. The setting was intimate, the sound perfect and it attracted a loyal audience. Dark shadows, hard industrial walls, but light tunes and soft rolling strings. Maggie’s voice carried through both ends and over the tropical gardens.
