Which NZ artist/band do you think will be a huge international success one day?

80 PROOF

Who would you most like to tour with?

Motley Crue

What is your most embarrassing concert moment?

2004 Battle Of The Bands finals in Christchurch. The band I was in at the time, EUCLiD, got through to the finals. However "Phil the bass player" turned up as we were setting up on stage. He was stoned, and went on to screw up every one of the songs, which were all writen by him?

What are you planning on doing during 2006?

80 Proof plan to record and release a record sometime early in 2006, as well as make a rock video to plug on the tele.

How did you come up with the name 80 Proof?

It was writen on our favourite bottle of rum

What is in your CD collection at home?

[Ed. Ok, there were way too many to list, but a fine collection of albums lives within the 80 Proof house]

What advice would you give other budding musicians/bands?

Get a "Real Job" as this one doesn’t pay. Only do it if you really feel it, other wise you will be disappointed.

80 Proof are a Rock band from Christchurch. We asked band member ‘keat’ to come up with some answers to our questions. However, since this interview, some of the band members have parted ways, and 80 Proof are no more.

About the interviewer Lisa Jones

I’m Lisa, Muzic.NZ’s founder and manager. I also manage the Aotearoa Music Industry Collective as well as the Aotearoa Rock Community and the Gig Space Facebook groups. Born and raised in New Plymouth, and now based in Palmerston North – I’m married to Adam (our IT guy), and together we have 2 amazing children. Rock is my favourite genre of music, but I enjoy a huge variety of genres from old school hip-hop through to metal, punk, pop, folk and EDM. My advice to NZ musicians is to build yourself a great support network, never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and talk to other people involved in the music industry. And don’t give up.. as long as you love what you are doing, don’t stop doing it. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. — MUZIC.NZ (MNZ) WEB: https://www.muzic.nz/ FB: https://www.facebook.com/muzicnetnz IG: https://www.instagram.com/muzicnz/ YT:
