What is the best gig/event you have ever performed at, and why?

It’s a hard question because there have been so many great gigs! I would have to say the EP Release in Auckland at the Wine Cellar in December. It was overflowing with people, and that night had been a long time coming, not only for me, but for friends and fans. I played with the band, and this was a first for a lot of people, and everyone seemed to be buzzing!

What is your favourite NZ venue?

I would have to say my favourite city to play is Wellington – does that count? However so far, the Wine Cellar in Auckland is my favourite. But after the tour in a couple of weeks – that could all change!

What can we expect to see from you over the next year?

Well I’m off on a national solo tour in just over a week, and at this stage, just playing as many gigs as possible. I’m going into writing hibernation at some point, as i’m planning an album for next year.

What other NZ musicians or bands would you like to see more of, and why?

Some raw musicians who just play their instrument without technological additives, along the lines of Shaun K Anderson and Flip Grater.

If you could, what rumour would you start about yourself?

I don’t really play – I just lipsync and pretend to play guitar….

What advice would you like to give to other aspiring musicians?

Enjoy the process of this crazy musical journey – and don’t focus so much on your ideal final destination.
