Amped Up to Rattle the City

After the breakout success and a near sell out in 2025, Amped Up 2026 is set to raise the bar once again this Labour Weekend with its strongest, heaviest and most powerful line-up to date, stacked with six of New Zealand’s most celebrated rock and metal bands for an unforgettable day of live music.

Back by popular demand, Devilskin returns this year following a landmark 2025. The band made history at the Aotearoa Music Awards last month, winning the inaugural Aotearoa Charts #1 Award after reaching the top spot on the Official Top 40 Chart, and also taking home the People’s Choice Award in 2025. These achievements are a testament to their enduring popularity and reputation as one of the country’s most electrifying live acts. Alternative rock heavyweights Villainy, Kiwi rock legends Tadpole, industrial-metal pioneers Head Like A Hole, modern rock powerhouse Written By Wolves, and rising favourites The Boondocks also feature in the stellar line-up.

From soaring choruses and crushing riffs to mosh pits and your anthem favourites, Amped Up 2026 promises a full-throttle celebration of everything that makes New Zealand rock and metal great.

Brewtown General Manager Phil Gorman says the success of last year’s event has created huge momentum heading into 2026.

“Amped Up 2025 exceeded all expectations and came incredibly close to selling out. The atmosphere was electric and it proved what we’ve always known – Upper Hutt and the wider Wellington region have a huge appetite for rock and metal music.

We knew we had to go bigger for 2026, and to have Devilskin, Villainy, Tadpole, Head Like A Hole, Written By Wolves and The Boondocks all on one bill is something special. Upper Hutts population swelled last year over Labour Weekend with people travelling from all over the country to take in Amped Up, we are expecting an even bigger crowd based on this line up for 2026 so encourage you to get in early”.

More than just a music festival, Amped Up is a celebration of New Zealand’s thriving rock and metal culture, bringing together fans from across the country to experience some of the nation’s most iconic live acts.

“This gig is massive for the city and it’s great to see live acts starting to return to Wellington, the Brewtown team have done an amazing job pulling a lineup of this calibre together, we just need people to get out, support the artists, the live music industry and put bums on seats.”
