Announcing Massey University Music Producer Masterclass

Massey University’s Commercial Music programme presents the 2026 Producer Masterclass.

On Saturday the 17th of October, the Massey Music School welcomes three expert NZ producers to the 2026 Producer Masterclass to share their expertise over one wonderful afternoon of music production and insight into the world of sound engineering.

From midday to 4pm, attendees will be treated to specialised lessons from producers Toby Lloyd, Tarn PK, and Mikeyy. The day will include three in depth presentations from each producer on their own approach to sound engineering within their personal work. These lecture sessions will be followed by personal producer-led workshops wherein track break-downs and production classes will take place. To split up the events of the day, a sausage sizzle lunch will be provided by the Fresh Choice Cuba Street team.

The Music Producer Masterclass is honoured to host some of Aotearoa’s finest sound engineers.

Toby Lloyd is the leading name behind Wellington city’s Tiny Triumph’s Recording Studio. His work with artists such as Shapeshifter, Hollie Smith, Nightmares On Wax, and Ladi6 (just to name a few) has established him as one of Wellington’s most well-rounded engineers and one of NZ’s busiest and most experienced, his work in film score and composition mixing adding another layer to his expertise.

Tarn PK, also Wellington based, approaches his work in sonic arts as a skilled songwriter and composer. His attention to detail and experience over different genres, showcases his ability in understanding what best serves the songwriting and storytelling of each piece he elevates. Working with upcoming talent such as First Reserve and Adam Snow, Tarn PK holds a valuable understanding of the emerging NZ music scene.

Lastly, joining us from Tāmaki Makaurau, Mikeyy adds to the group with his expertise of high energy dance music and live track mixing and performance. Mikeyy holds a key role in understanding of live performance context in sound engineering, with experience performing at Rhythm and Vines, Soundsplash, Rolling Meadows, etc. Mikkey’s work continues to push music production from in-studio computer work to stadium-level human connection.

In collaboration with The Music Production Guild Aotearoa, The Massey Commercial Music Programme is pleased to announce the giveaway of up to 5 full MPG annual memberships valued at up to $2,000 each.
