Ben Horlock Shares Ambient Neo-Soul Track ‘Don’t Wait On Me’

Visionary dark-pop/neo-soul artist Ben Horlock (Ngati Porou/Te Arawa) debuts his atmospheric break-up track, Don’t Wait On Me, combining lush, textural synth sounds nodding at The Weeknd and Frank Ocean, and setting them alight with dark, searing guitar tones.

Spending the pandemic living homeless on borrowed time in a friend’s car, Ben began recording tracks out of studios with multiple leading producers, honing his vast musical influences (Jimi Hendrix, Harry Styles, The Weeknd) to generate a sound of great sonic depth, and Don’t Wait On Me is the perfect representation. Driven by his hypnotic and crooning soul vocals, the track leisurely flows, by the chorus exploding with 80’s synths, feverishly building emotion throughout.
