From Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 October, TreeChruch and Gardens along with The Production Co. invites audiences to step into the world of D Light, an immersive evening experience where music, poetry, performance and light come together across the magical surroundings of Ōhaupō’s TreeChurch and Gardens.

Tickets are on sale now from dlight.co.nz – valued at $75.

Rather than sitting down for a single performance, guests will be invited to wander between four unique performance spaces, discovering a different experience at every turn. With each space offering its own atmosphere, artists and visual world, D Light transforms the gardens into an illuminated playground for the senses.

At the heart of the experience is TreeChurch, a breathtaking natural chapel, where the sounds of Horomona Horo (taonga pūoro) will meet the piano and electronic soundscapes of Jeremy Mayall.

Nearby, The Parachute will host Kulios, a string quartet performing beneath a striking World War II parachute canopy, while The Labyrinth will provide an atmospheric setting for poets Nadia Soloman, Michael Moore and Sam Clunie, performing against a backdrop of Himalayan Birch avenues. And topping it off, Under the Sails, singer-songwriter Nathan King of Zed is set to perform.

Throughout the site, D Light’s production and lighting team will transform the gardens with a series of majestic illuminations, bringing the natural landscape and performance spaces to life after dark.

Guests can also make their way to The Gantry for food and beverage offerings throughout the evening, creating a space to pause, gather and soak up the atmosphere between performances.

Each performance will run for approximately 20–25 minutes, with performances commencing on the half hour from 7.30pm, through to the final performances at 9.30pm. The full experience concludes at 10pm.

Dr. Jeremy Mayall, performer and CEO of Creative Waikato, says: “The Tree Church and Gardens are such a magical environment, and the opportunity to fill them with light, sound and performance is incredibly exciting. Each part of the garden has its own unique personality, and this experience will bring that to life in a completely new way. Blending music, strings, piano, poetry and light with the natural surroundings, it’s an opportunity to step outside the familiar and experience this beautiful place like never before.”

With capacity strictly limited to just 320 guests each night, D Light offers an intimate opportunity to experience TreeChurch and its gardens in an entirely new light.
