Damien Binder Releases New Single ‘I Can’t Believe My Mind’

Since the release of his 2023 album Bright Side, Damien Binder has kept up a near-annual schedule of releases amid a rich songwriting streak. Following 2024’s Heartful EP and this year’s strongly received single Winterlude, Binder is thrilled to present the upbeat and effervescent guitar pop of I Can’t Believe My Mind.
Starting like a lost gem from Wilco, the song rides high on power pop guitar chords, handclaps, organ, and an irresistible chorus as Damien explores the ways in which your mind can play tricks on you sometimes and have you “thinking and believing all kinds of crazy things.”
The origins of the guitar style and riffy chord progression in the song can be traced back to a finger injury Damien sustained last year.
“Before Christmas 2025, I tore a ligament in one of the fingers on my fretting hand. For six months, I could only play guitar with two fingers, so I played power chords using fifths (like in heavy metal),” he explains. “As it was, I couldn’t perform most of the songs in my set, and I had to cancel a few gigs during this period. The injury forced me into a style of playing which, as it turned out, had its strange advantages in that it limited my choices. It was kind of a revelation!”
