Emma Kate Releases Debut EP ‘Autumn’

Rising Wellington pop singer-songwriter Emma Kate releases her debut EP Autumn, creating a pivotal moment in the early stages of her career.
After a run of Summer festival shows including features at Gardens Magic & CubaDupa 2026, Emma Kate is becoming a significant name in the New Zealand pop scene. Recently signing a deal as a Songwriter with Wilfred Records, an opening slot for NZ Artist Jenni Smith and the success of her recent titular single Autumn, she is ready to showcase the inside world of her debut EP for the first time.
Autumn is fully self written, and mainly self produced by Emma Kate. It also features production from longtime collaborator Adam Cameron, and local artist Flynn Adamson (Harder Music Group). With canonical themes of love, loss & loneliness throughout, Emma’s storytelling in the EP blends fluidly between pop bangers & ballads to create a cohesive theme with real life experiences that listeners can relate to.
“Moments in time are inevitable and inescapable, like the seasons. For me, Autumn has always been a season where I’ve experienced the most change. I spent Autumn last year alone, with countless nights crying, contemplating what I was doing with my life, and pouring those feelings into journals. And thus, Autumn was born. I’ve always wanted my first project to reflect my most pivotal and sentimental moments, so when I was selecting which songs to put on the EP, I made sure to represent that part of myself. Reflecting upon writing and producing these songs, I am also incredibly grateful I get to have creative control and tell my life stories in a way where it can be passed down through generations, but also reach and connect with people in the present.”
The EP moves through emotions like a musical roller coaster. Featuring stories from falling in love, blind sided heartbreak, to processing the grief of a loved one and moving away from home. Emma Kate expresses the highs and lows of her early twenties with heartfelt, personal lyrics and an acoustic guitar guiding her through. This project reflects on how the journey of growing up can be exciting and hopeful, and just how quickly it can become isolating and difficult to navigate.
Following the EP’s release, Emma Kate will embark on her first headline tour in May, with 2 shows across Auckland & Wellington.
