Fool of Stars Releases Much Anticipated Debut Album

Today, New Zealand-based shoegaze/dream-pop outfit Fool of Stars independently release their debut studio effort – the expansive and poignant The Everything Under Your Feet. Recorded live in person and long-distance with band members traveling in different countries, Fool of Stars presents an ambitious debut LP that boasts a nuanced set of tracks. These tracks exhibit an eclectic range of influences and an advanced musical vocabulary beyond the group’s years.
Motheater; the record’s electric alt-rock lead single displays the group’s impressive ability to shift between dynamic landscapes while the initially somber Song 7 depicts Fool of Stars’ habit of patient buildups that lead to immense payoffs. Sol 127 the third and final single released from the album, tampers in pop-rock territory with the synth-driven earworms tied with melancholic lyrics about longing and missing a loved one. The Everything Under Your Feet is a labour of love perfected over a strenuous and tumultuous time for the group with band members leaving New Zealand for long periods.

Fool of Stars are a synth-rock/shoegaze outfit based in Ōtepoti, New Zealand. Consisting of Olive Ward on vocals and guitar, Jacob Smith on organ/bass, and Max White on drums, the group fuses the textural paintings of shoegaze with the instantly n appealing melodic hooks of dream pop. These melodic hooks take the form of towering synth lines and captivating vocals that tie the sprawling guitar arrangements and propulsive drum grooves into a dense, evocative wall of sound.
