After spending three weeks in the Aotearoa Albums Top 20 chart (#10 peak), Hanne is heading out to celebrate The Lighthouse EP with a run of six intimate shows in the lower north & the south.

With connection being key, many of these venues & communities hold people, places & stories dear to her heart & her music…With a treasured lighthouse or two thrown in for good measure.

Patiently crafted over a five year period, Wellington/Norwegian songwriter and singer, Hanne Jøstensen, presents her sophomore EP The Lighthouse, an intimate, enchanting & wonderfully moody body of work, filled with plenty of space, beauty & calm. The Lighthouse draws beautifully on her Nordic heritage and New Zealand home, navigating her unique upbringing on a tiny Norwegian island (where her grandfather was a lighthouse keeper), woven into modern day life on the wild south coast of Wellington, Aotearoa. Hanne’s sophomore EP has also seen her collaborating with some of Wellington & Norway’s finest.

With a poise evident  in her voice, yet a tender emotional core in her lyrics and style, these upcoming live shows are set to be very special.

“It carries a sense of stillness balanced with emotional depth, creating space for the listener without demanding attention.” Viddhi Panchal, NZ Musician.

Allowing space for both the music & the listener throughout the release and at her live shows, Hanne blends thoughtful lyricism, catchy melodies and evocative arrangements, taking the listener on an otherworldly journey. Linking people, moments and landscapes from Norway to New Zealand. For this tour, the Ōtāne show draws on her strong Scandinavian connections from the nearby regions, Lyttelton, Geraldine, Nelson & Wellington have very special lighthouses nearby and at all shows Hanne’s strong connections to people & storytelling are evident. The Tour will conclude on Wellington’s South Coast as the final event during the 2026 South Coast Arts Trail’s Annual Festival, an event dear to Hanne’s family and local community.

In 2004, Hanne moved to Aotearoa for what was supposed to be three years.

I met my partner here, and Wellington became my new home. I love the creative vibe and community feel, the roughness of the south coast. A capital city and yet so wild.

So it came to be that the EP took its final shape in Wellington, being recorded & mixed throughout 2025 under the masterful gaze of the multi-award winning Lee Prebble at The Surgery. After honing her songwriting skills for over a decade, self-producing the EP and crafting the many arrangements, Hanne presents an emotive, genre defying, body of work. The Lighthouse encourages us to sit back and take the time to be transported.

Hanne Jøstensen’s EP, The Lighthouse, was released via all digital outlets on April 17th 2026 and she heads out for a run of six intimate live shows in the lower north & the south from late July until mid September.
