Haz & Miloux release ‘March 12’ single & ‘Brunette’ EP

Award winning Aotearoa duo Haz & Miloux are back together again. Their much anticipated EP Brunette, alongside the third and final single & video March 12 have been released today.
The EP’s latest single, March 12, ‘is described by Miloux as “a letter to my younger self. It’s a reassurance that pain or trauma doesn’t have to dictate the rest of your life, but it’s ok that it might have held you back for a little while. To feel and to acknowledge pain is not a weakness but a strength, and it shouldn’t stop you from trusting or loving. Things out of your control are no reason for regret or dissociation; there’s no shame in taking your time to heal and drawing on past experiences to become someone better.”
March 12 is accompanied by a visually stunning music video, directed by Mona Sanei.
“Shooting the video for March 12 was an amazing experience as we had the best tight knit crew,”says Miloux. “The shoot was over three days in mainly heavy rain from Waiheke to Piha. Mona’s vision for the video, which she executed beautifully with filmmakerTaine Noble, was capturing the feeling of isolation contained within the lyrics, but also the beauty, stillness and peace of acceptance in the song.”
The track officially heralds in Haz & Miloux‘s second EP Brunette, described by the pair as a collection of songs written about daily life as artists. It touches on topics like love, mental health and toxic relationships, sense of self and also codependency.
“We’ve been sitting on this EP for a very long time! It feels good to know we can finally send it out into the world – this time with mean accompanying visuals made in collaboration with talented local creatives and friends. We’re in a new phase of creating so we’re ready to share and perform this collection of songs with an extra level of introspection.”
And of the title? “I was blonde and now I’m brunette again,” Milouxlaughs. “This EP is a reflection of this phase of our lives since our first EP, Blonde, and is a bit more natural and a return to our roots, musically.”
Brunette is the second EP from Haz & Miloux, following the 2019 release of EP Blonde. The pair achieved phenomenal success with their debut EP winning the 2020 Aotearoa Music Awardfor Best Soul/RnB Artist, and Blonde was shortlisted for the 2020 Silver Scroll Awards. Their songs are a love letter to their influences, experiences and community.
Brunette EP alongside single March 12 releases July 28th via New Zealand indie label Bigpop Records.
