Keren Mara Announces Debut Mini-Album ‘Falling’

Christchurch indie-folk singer-songwriter Keren Mara has today released her debut seven-track mini-Album, Falling.
Three years in the making, Falling is a deeply personal collection of songs exploring resilience, healing, heartbreak, self-discovery, and hope. Blending indie folk, alternative rock, and acoustic-driven storytelling, the Album captures both vulnerability and strength through richly textured arrangements and emotive lyricism.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Fleetwood Mac, LeAnn Rimes, and Sade, Keren has crafted a body of work that traverses shadow and light. Across seven tracks, listeners are invited into a journey of reflection, growth, and transformation.
“Songwriting became my refuge through some of the most challenging periods of my life. Falling was born through adversity and shaped by a journey of healing, overcoming, self-discovery, and becoming the person I was always meant to be.” says Keren.
“These songs were written during some of the most challenging and transformative years of my life. Releasing them feels very cathartic, and I want to connect with others who have experienced extreme grief and loss. I came back to music after the passing of my partner and my daughter’s father in 2016, and more recently, I lost two brothers. Songwriting and my spirituality have been the only things that helped me through. So finally being in a place where I am stronger and ready to release my debut album is incredibly exciting and a long time coming.”
Produced by Harry Finlayson-Hood (& Keren Mara), the album showcases Keren’s evolution as both a songwriter and artist, highlighting her ability to blend intimate storytelling with expansive musical landscapes, brought further to life through Harry’s more rock-leaning production.
To celebrate the release, Keren Mara will perform a special album launch show at Space Academy on Wednesday, July 29th, bringing the songs of Falling to life in a full-band live performance. Purchase tickets here
