‘Kiss The Sky’ – Tunes of I Exclusive Premiere
Wellington dub rockers Tunes of I are proud to announce the release of their video Kiss The Sky on August 1, premiering on Happy Australia.
Filmed entirely in front of green screen at Don’t Panic Pictures in Wellington, the ‘low-fi sci-fi’ creation features the rhythm section of the band scouring the universe for their kidnapped horn players. After a comical altercation with a group of aliens using attack moves that can only be described as unique, the band re-groups their survivors and – like the song suggests – heads in search of the moon.
Directed and produced by Mark Russell of Renegade Peach Project and Arlo Edwards of Don’t Panic Pictures, the music video is the result of successful New Tracks funding from New Zealand on Air. Based on a storyboard idea by bass player Makura Tomoana and frontman Conway Jeune, the band believes the video really captures the fun side of their personas, even tackling the recent band departure of trumpet player Michael Costeloe.
“We just spent an epic two days in the studio working hard to play our parts, having a tonne of laughs in the process,” says Jeune, “Mark and Arlo did a great job of capturing our vibe perfectly; we can’t wait to get this video out there.
“The video release coincides with the beginning of Tunes of I’s debut Australia tour, which begins on August 2 in Brisbane. The tour is courtesy of 123 Agency, who signed the band to their roster after watching them perform to sold-out crowds as the main support act on Ocean Alley’s Australian album release tour earlier this year.
